Printing in China and overseas

How to print books in China is a common question for those seeking high quality at an affordable price.

Why print books in China?

Printing in China on offset printers allows our clients the ability to print at the highest quality for a price that is often more than 50% cheaper than printing elsewhere. That is particularly true for full color hardcover books.

We work with authors, self-publishers, corporations, universities and non-profits, and have been able to shave significant parts off their printing budgets. Printing is typically the largest expense for book projects.

Unmatched level of quality printing in China

Our printers meet or exceed the standard of the majority of U.S. offset printers. While many newcomers to the printing world might be concerned with the quality of the printers or paper, the reality is, the majority of books printed in the world come from China. The printers are some of the most experienced on the planet and utilize top-of-the-line equipment.

How much does it cost to get a book printed?

The cost of printing a book in China depends on a number of factors. The biggest factor is the size of the book (dimensions) and the number of pages. The second biggest factor is the size of the print run.

Because offset printing utilizes printing plates, the startup cost of setting those plates is usually the biggest expense. Hence, the price-per-book of 500 copies is significantly higher than a print run of 2,500 or 5,000 books that utilize those same plates.

An average size hardcover book with a print run of 2,500 copies will typically cost between $3 and $5 per copy depending on the specifics of the paper, color and size.

Eco-friendly printing practices

Our printers us soy-based and vegetable-based inks with lower levels of VOCs as opposed to traditional petroleum-based inks. We also offer 100% ecological paper and post-consumer recycled paper as an option.

An option to print in the U.S.

We also offer U.S.-based printing for smaller print runs and rush orders. For clients looking for less than 500 copies of a book or a digital print job on a tight deadline, we offer an option to print with an American printer. Please contact us for more information.
